Italian Video Game Awards 2018
The awards are designed to both celebrate and highlight the very best creative work in video games, with Italian trade body AESVI having promoted the event for the last six years. 2018‘s event - due to take place on the night of Wednesday, March 14th - is the first to link up with international platforms such as MCV, signifying the Italian’s industry’s dedication to cementing its ties with creatives across the globe.
“The Italian games industry has long fostered links with studios across Europe, but this year’s Italian Video Game Awards is the first time we’ve used the awards to publicly indicate our intent to work more closely with our brothers and sisters across the world,” said Thalita Malago, AESVI’s General Secretary.
“Our partnership with MCV - which is regarded as one of the most respected voices in the industry not only in the UK, but across the continent and US too - is the perfect way to welcome the rest of the world to Milan for the most important night in the Italian games industry’s calendar.”
As a result, MCV will report live from Milan on March 14th, bringing the winners to its audience as they are revealed by local star presenters Rocco Tanica and Lucilla Agosti. There will also be a series of MCV sponsored Special Recognition Awards, designed to honour both the most successful individual in the Italian Industry, and the most successful Italian games company in the world.
In total, 20 gongs will be handed out on the night, all from the prestigious and exclusive Teatro Vetra, right in the heart of Italy’s second city.
“We’re hugely excited to be partnering with the Italian Video Game Awards,” said Jem Alexander, Content Editor for Game Development at MCV. “The recent growth and success of the Italian games industry makes it one of the most fascinating areas of development across the globe and we relish the opportunity to highlight the best in Italian games to our UK audience at the awards this year.”
The Jury for the awards as a whole is composed by journalists from general and specialized press, influencers, and University professors. The Italian Video Game Awards 2018 will also play host to as of yet unannounced special guests from both the UK and US.
