HCT World Championship 2018 announced for Taipei from April 25-28
Over the last year, the best Hearthstone professional players have been competing at Tour Stops, Playoff events, and Seasonal Championships to accrue the points and standings needed to secure a spot on the tournament’s 16-player roster and a shot at its $1 million USD prize pool. The final list of competitors and additional details about the HCT World Championship will be unveiled later this year.
The news was announced at the 2018 Hearthstone All-Star Invitational in Taipei (Dec. 28-30), where HCT Fall 2018 finalist Wu “BloodTrail” Zong-Chang defeated HCT World Championship 2017 winner Chen “tom60229” Wei Lin to win the tournament and take home $20,000 USD.
During the 2018 Hearthstone All-Star Invitational, an all-star lineup of some of the most high-profile Hearthstone pros, including Frank “Fr0zen” Zhang (2nd at HCT World Championship 2017), Muzahidul “Muzzy” Islam (#3 ranked HS player – InvenGlobal), and Casper “Hunterace” Notto (#1 ranked HS player – InvenGlobal), competed in front of Taiwanese fans to close out the year.
