F1 Delta Time “70th Anniversary Edition” car and event segment NFTs sell for ~US$2.07 million
Animoca Brands is pleased to announce that F1 Delta Time has auctioned the ultra-rare “70th Anniversary Edition” Apex race car non-fungible token (NFT) for 987,000 REVV, worth approximately US$265,000 at time of sale, surpassing the previous price record for a virtual car established in 2019 by the “1-1-1” auction. On 9 March 2021, the game also sold out within 23 minutes 800 Rare Formula 1 2020 event segment NFTs for 8,000,000 REVV, worth about US$1.8 million at the time of sale.
“70th Anniversary Edition”Apex car NFT auctioned for ~ US$265,000 The “70th Anniversary Edition” is a unique Apex race car NFT that celebrates the Formula 1 2020 season, which marked the 70th anniversary of Formula 1. On 12 March 2021, with a winning bid of 987,000 REVV, worth approximately US$265,000 at time of sale, the “70th Anniversary Edition” established new records for most expensive licensed F1® NFT and most expensive virtual car.
These records were broken after just one day on 13 March 2021, when the “Australia Edition 2020” Apex car NFT was acquired in an aftermarket transaction for 1,221,221 REVV, worth approximately US$288,000 at time of sale. The “Australia Edition 2020” car was issued by F1 Delta Time last year to raise funds for the bushfires that swept through much of Australia (see announcement).
Event segment NFTs direct sales of ~US$1.8 million 160 segments of the Rare tier for each of 5 famous F1 events (for a total of 800 segments) were sold in a direct sale at www.F1DeltaTime.com. The events are: FORMULA 1 PIRELLI BRITISH GRAND PRIX 2020, FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX DE MONACO 2020, FORMULA 1 ROLEX BELGIAN GRAND PRIX 2020, FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO D’ITALIA 2020, and the FORMULA 1 CHINESE GRAND PRIX 2020. All 800 segments sold out within 23 minutes for a total of 8,000,000 REVV, worth approximately US$1.8 million.
In F1 Delta Time, each Formula 1 event is represented by 330 segments, which are NFTs that can be owned by players. These segments are distributed in four tiers of descending rarity and value: Apex, Legendary, Epic, and Rare. Owners of F1 Delta Time event segments earn a share of all REVV entry fees collected for all in-game races for that event, and are also entitled to a yield based on the REVV staked during certain other events.
Officially licensed F1® NFTs All race cars and event segments produced by F1 Delta Time are officially licensed by Formula 1. Every car is an NFT digital collectible that can be used in the F1 Delta Time multiplayer racing game modes. Additionally, all car NFTs can be staked to generate REVV passively over time. F1 Delta Time NFTs are of various rarity levels, with Apex being the most rare and powerful.
