devcom 2022
The devcom Developer Conference 2022 has set a new record of attendees at its first fully hybrid event, with more than 3,500 participants up to and including August 26. On site alone, the number of participants increased by 10 percent compared to the previous record year of 2019. Digital access to the conference and thus to more than 120 sessions from over 180 speakers took place via the new gamescom Biz Community platform. Here, all devcom participants had the opportunity not only to follow the full program and visit the digital exhibitions, but also trade visitors of gamescom used the app for their matchmaking between and with the devcom community. Over 11,200 contacts were made and over 31,400 messages exchanged via the event app.
In addition, #ddc2022 was accompanied by a 5-day live program on the official Twitch channel http://www.twitch.tv/devcom_global and with 765,000 viewers more tripled the number of viewers compared to 2021. Let's Plays, interviews and industry content were freely available and thus also reaches many other interested people far beyond the devcom participants.
Stephan Reichart, Managing Director of devcom GmbH:
The conference kicked off on Monday with the keynote speech by Joe Brammer, co-founder and CEO of Bulkhead. The industry veteran spoke about "The Truth About the 4-Day Workweek" in his keynote address. Dana Nightingale, Campaign Director of Arkane Lyon, opened the second day of the conference. She reported in "Deathloop's User Research - User Experience Death Loop" about the influence of user surveys on the first hours of gameplay in "Deathloop".
Several new formats took place during the course of the conference. These included the exclusive networking dinner on the evening before devcom, the three-hour FLINTA* Meetup, the devcom Executive Summit and the big Indie Dev Night at Bootshaus in Cologne.
The events not only encouraged attendees to networking, but also to professional and cultural exchange. These aspects should also remain an integral part of the devcom Developer Conference in the future.

Stephan Reichart, Managing Director of devcom GmbH:
“We are overwhelmed by the high number of participants in our first fully hybrid devcom Developer Conference. Our decision to also stream all sessions online and to offer our online participants a unique event experience was absolutely right and confirmed what we had learned over the past few years. The talks & panels were well received by viewers all over the world and on site - and therefore our very special thanks go to all the wonderful people who shared their knowledge for us and with us. Kudos to the whole team for the outstanding work of the last two years, the result of which we could now see at the really great ddc2022 in Cologne this week. Now it's time for us to take a deep breath and then we'll continue in November with our two summits - Tech & Tool and Art & Animation - in the year-round devcom concept."
