Survival Craft Game ‘The Last Plague: Blight’ Launching October 3 in Early Access
Solo developer Original Studios is thrilled to announce the release date for its authentic open-world survival game, The Last Plague: Blight. The developer’s debut title will launch in Early Access via Steam on October 3, 2024.
After a mysterious disease ravaged Earth, leaving it desolate and reclaimed by the wild, players are humanity’s last hope. Having barely escaped the Blight’s devastating effects themselves, the protagonist finds themselves alone, exhausted, but ready to risk it all to fight back against this disease.
Players will face an unforgiving and uncompromising open world filled with threats of all kinds. Use the abundance of natural resources to craft rudimentary tools and weapons to fend off foes such as hostile wildlife and build impressive base structures as a new “home.” Keep an eye out on the protagonist’s vitals, as players will need to forage and hunt for food, gather water, and stay rested. The Blight poses a threat, too, and clouds of its diseased smog are to be avoided. The protagonist may have survived the disease once, but they’d be wise not to chance fate a second time.
Surviving in this deeply punishing environment won’t be as easy as punching rocks or chopping down endless trees. The Last Plague: Blight's approach to realism includes complex systems. Water must be boiled before drinking, raw materials must be treated before turning into tools, and each survival task eats up precious time, further depleting hunger, hydration, and exhaustion levels. The Blight is far from the only threat in this world.
There is, however, the option to call for backup. Become humanity’s last few hopes with online co-op multiplayer allowing up to four players to fend off the threats together. While the perils may not let up, fighting a world-threatening disease certainly feels more manageable with friends.

The Last Plague: Blight Key Gameplay Features:
- Unforgiving and Uncompromising: Harder than players are used to, this is an authentic and realistic survival experience set in a world that doesn’t take kindly to anyone or anything.
- Procedural and Punishing: This world consistently presents new threats, as the open world and its inhabitants are procedurally generated. Memorizing the landscape in each playthrough may not be possible, but knowing how to navigate its challenges and systems is key.
- Cook, Craft, and Create: Complex cooking and crafting systems go beyond punching rocks for resources. Natural resources must be foraged, hunted, treated, decontaminated, and fermented to be used; turning lemons into lemonade is not as straightforward as having the ingredients and a blueprint.
- Go It Alone (or Not): Facing off against this punishing world isn’t for the faint-hearted, so lighten the load with up to three friends. Online co-op multiplayer sees up to four players craft, fight, and research the Blight together, making humanity’s feature look a little more hopeful.
